Hill Climb

Sunday saw the annual Hill Climb time trial take place in dry sunny conditions at Primrose Hill, Moulton. The climb, organised jointly by Newmarket, Mildenhall and Ely cycling clubs, was well attended with Mark Cox (Ely CC) proving to be the fastest to ascend the hill in a time of 1min 51sec. The former NC&TC rider Ben Tinkler, now riding for Loughborough Students, was the second fastest stopping the clock in 2mins dead. Other than Tinkler the top five places was dominated by Ely CC riders, with Geoff Brewster (3rd), John McAndrew (4th) and Tom Sykes (5th). The highest placed Newmarket rider was Paul Barnes (6th) who denied club mate Michael Sheridan the honour of being the top NC&TC rider on his birthday. Mildenhall’s highest placed rider was Keith Richardson who recorded a time of 2min 34sec to give himself 12th place. The fastest lady to climb Primrose Hill was Newmarket’s Emma Thorpe who finished 13th overall.
